REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

  • Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the front axle hub (see page ).

2. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH

(a) Remove the clip and bolt.

(b) Disconnect the speed sensor from the steering knuckle.

3. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the cotter pin and nut.

(b) Using SST, disconnect the tie rod end LH from the steering knuckle.

SST: 09610-20012

NOTICE:

  • Do not damage the front disc brake dust cover.
  • Do not damage the ball joint dust cover.
  • Do not damage the steering knuckle.

4. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ATTACHMENT LH

5. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE LH

(a) Support the front suspension lower arm LH with a jack.

(b) Remove the clip and the nut.

(c) Using SST, disconnect the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle.

SST: 09628-62011

(d) Remove the steering knuckle.

6. REMOVE KNUCKLE GREASE RETAINER CAP LH (for 2WD)

(a) Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the retainer cap.

7. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE OIL SEAL LH (for 4WD)

(a) Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the oil seal.
