INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT GENERATOR ROTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the rotor for an open circuit.

(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

100 A Type Type

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

Slip ring - Slip ring

20°C (68°F)

2.3 to 2.7 Ω

150 A Type

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

Slip ring - Slip ring

20°C (68°F)

1.5 to 1.9 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the generator rotor assembly.

(b) Check if the rotor is grounded.

(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

Slip ring - Rotor

Always

10 kΩ or higher

If the result is not as specified, replace the generator rotor assembly.

(c) Check that the slip rings are not rough or scored.

If rough or scored, replace the generator rotor assembly.

(d) Using a vernier caliper, measure the slip ring diameter.

Standard diameter:

14.2 to 14.4 mm (0.559 to 0.567 in.)

Minimum diameter:

14.0 mm (0.551 in.)

If the diameter is less than the minimum, replace the generator rotor assembly.

2. INSPECT GENERATOR BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a vernier caliper, measure the exposed brush length.

Standard exposed length:

10.5 mm (0.413 in.)

Minimum exposed length:

4.5 mm (0.177 in.)

If the exposed length is less than the minimum, replace the generator brush holder assembly.

3. INSPECT GENERATOR DRIVE END FRAME BEARING

(a) When rotating the bearing, check that there is no abnormal noise and that it rotates smoothly.

If necessary, replace the generator drive end frame bearing.

4. INSPECT GENERATOR ROTOR BEARING

(a) When rotating the bearing, check that there is no abnormal noise and that it rotates smoothly.

If necessary, replace the generator rotor assembly.

Toyota Tundra Service Manual > Automatic Transmission System: Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Performance (P0711)
DESCRIPTION The ATF temperature sensor converts the fluid temperature into a resistance value for use by the ECM. The ECM applies a voltage to the temperature sensor through terminal THO1 of the ECM. The sensor resistance changes with the ATF temperature. As the temperature becomes higher, the senso ...
