1. POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT
Component
|
Outline
|
Master Switch
|
- Controls power window operation for all windows.
- When window lock switch is set to lock position, window operation
will only be possible with driver side switch.
|
Power Window Switch
|
- Located on front passenger side door and rear doors.
- Each power window regulator switch controls power window operations
for its respective window.
|
Power Window Regulator Motor
|
- Each power window switch controls power window operations for its
respective window.
- Receives power window regulator switch signals and activates motor
to change window position.
- Uses Hall-IC in regulator motor with ECU to detect window position
and jamming.*1
|
Back Door Power Window Regulator Switch*2, *3
|
Controls power window operation for back window glass.
|
Back Door Power Window Regulator Motor (for Back Window Glass)*2, *3
|
Receives back door power window regulator switch signals and activates
motor to change window position.

3. SYSTEM FUNCTION
Function
|
Outline
|
Manual UP function
|
for Driver and Front Passenger Side:
Function that raises a window while the power window switch is pulled
halfway up (the window stops as soon as the power window switch is released).
for Rear Sides:
Function that raises a window while the power window switch is pulled
up (the window stops as soon as the power window switch is released).
|
Manual DOWN function
|
for Driver and Front Passenger Side:
Function that lowers a window while the power window switch is pushed
halfway down (the window stops as soon as the power window switch is released).
for Rear Sides:
Function that lowers a window while the power window switch is pushed
down (the window stops as soon as the power window switch is released).
|
AUTO UP function*
|
Function that enables a window to be fully closed by one full pull of
the power window switch.
|
AUTO DOWN function*
|
Function that enables a window to be fully opened by one full push of
the power window switch.
|
Remote UP/DOWN function
|
Function that allows the master switch to control the front passenger
side power window and rear power windows.
|
Window lock function
|
- Function where the power window regulator switch assembly and rear
power window switch operations are disabled when the window lock switch
of the master switch is pressed.
- Front passenger side power window switch and rear switches can be
operated when the window lock switch is pressed again.
|
Key-off operation function
|
- Function that makes it possible to operate all power windows for
approximately 45 seconds after the ignition switch is turned off when
the driver side door and front passenger side door have not been opened.
- If approximately 45 seconds have passed or a front door is opened
while the AUTO function is operating, window operation stops.
|
Jam protection function*
|
- Function that automatically stops a power window and moves it downward
if an object is jammed in the power window.
- Jam protection function works for AUTO UP and manual UP operation.
|
Key-linked open and close
|
- When a key is not inside the vehicle, the driver side door is locked,
and the key inserted into the driver side door key cylinder is turned
and maintained in the lock position for 2.3 seconds or more, the main
body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) activates the power window regulator
motors to close all power windows while the key is turned.
- Similarly, when the driver side door is unlocked, turning and maintaining
the driver side door key in the unlock position for 2.3 seconds or more
will cause all power windows to open.
|
Diagnosis
|
- Function where the ECU in the power window regulator motor detects
malfunctions in the power window system and makes a diagnosis.
- The power window switch light blinks to inform the driver of the
malfunction.
|
Fail-safe
|
If the pulse sensor(s) (Hall IC(s)) in the power window regulator motor
malfunctions, the power window AUTO UP/DOWN function is disabled.
